ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE : A process for the production of aminoalkyl silanes by reacting chloroalkyl alkoxy silanes with ammonia or alkyl amines under pressure at elevated temperature. The process of the invention is characterised in that the chloroalkyl alkoxy silane is added in a sub-stoichimetric ratio to the ammonia or alkyl amine accommodated in a pressure vessel and preheated to temperatures of from 50 to 200 °C, after which the reaction is completed at temperatures of from 50 to 200°C. The invention enables one to reduce the formation of secondary and tertiary amines and to increase the volume-time yields of primary aminoalkyl silanes.
