Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to a process for the production of an aqueous bituminous preparation and the preparation itself. The process is character- ized in that bitumen melt is dispersed in an aqueous medium containing aluminium hydroxide gel prepared from a water-soluble aluminium salt and an alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide or magnesium oxide and/or hydroxide or from mixtures thereof. The preparation is useful in the construction industry e.g. for the production of asphalt with filler materials and roof plates or covering slabs with carrier materials. Since the preparation is aqueous it is safer to use than bitumen itself or organic solvent based bitumen and further, the preparation can be used and stored in the cold state.
