AECI 573/574 ABSTRACT A process is provided for producing emulsion explosives in cartridge from. A particulate density-reducing agent, for example, glass microspheres, is introduced into an emulsion explosive which has been heated to form a liquid, the density-reducing agent is dispersed in the emulsion which is then introduced into cartridges. The cartridges are cooled to solidify the emulsion and to stabilize the density- reducing agent therein.
