ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention discloses a novel process for producing ferromagnetic chromium dioxide having a Curie point of from about 114°C to about 120°C. in a reaction vessel. The vessel may be made of iron or an alloy containing iron. The invention provides an improvement to the conventional process which comprises providing the reaction vessel with an inert layer comprising inert inorganic compound particles and a binder selected from thermoplastic, thermosetting resins, and inorganic binders selected from sodium silicate and calcium sulfate, the inert layer being applied to the walls of the reaction vessel in a thickness from 200 µ to 5 mm.
