ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention is concerned with a process for the preparation of dipropylene glycol dibenzoate, which comprises transesterifying methylbenzoate with dipropylene glycol, at a tem- perature above 150°C and in the presence of an aluminium alkoxide or an aluminium-silicon alkoxide, or both, as catalyst. The pro- cess according to the invention enables to obtain light-coloured dipropylene glycol dibenzoate starting from commercial grade me- thylbenzoate and dipropylene glycol.
