ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved process for producing ethane from aromatic hydrocarbons is described. Hydrogen and the hydrocarbons are introduced into a catalytically inert reactor zone and are reacted under closely controlled conditions which provide an enhanced yield of ethane.
