ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 100 parts by weight of hollow beads of thermoplastic plastics, more especially of vinyl chloride ethylene copoly- mers, mixed with 10 - 2000% by weight of water, based on hollow beads, are mixed with 10 to 2000 parts by weight of an adhesive dissolved or dispersed in water. After that the paste-like mixture is separated up into a free-flowing mixture by the addition of at least one water insoluble dry powder, 0.05 to 5.0 parts by volume of the powder being used per part volume of dry hollow beads. The hollow bead with a perforation-free membrane, a diameter of about 11µ to 6 mm and an apparent density of 0.005 to 3.0 g/cc may be used as light- weight fillers for syntactic foams.
