A process for the production of hydrogen and electrical energy, with zero emission of pollutants, from ethanol which is produced from biomass, which is characterized by the partial oxidation/reforming of ethanol with water for hydrogen production which is subsequently fed to a fuel cell for production of electrical energy, more specifically where an aqueous solution of ethanol originating from fermentation of biomass is separated by distillation or any other technique so as to obtain approx. 40-70 % by weight of ethanol, preferably 50-60 %, this mixture, mixed with a suitable quantity of air in such a way so as the ratio of moles oxygen per mole ethanol to be between zero and 0,5, is fed to a reactor in which the reactions of partial oxidation and reforming of ethanol are taking place over a suitable catalyst, where in the same or a different reactor the shift reaction is taking place and, if necessary, the reaction of combustion of CO or its conversion to CH4, where the gaseous mixture from the exit of the reactors which contain hydrogen in mixture with carbon dioxide, nitrogen, methane or other gases in small quantities, is separated to the extent which is desirable for any kind of application.
Ce procédé de production d'hydrogène et d'énergie électrique, sans aucune émission de polluants, à partir d'éthanol obtenu à partir d'une biomasse, est caractérisé par l'oxydation/reformage partiel de l'éthanol au moyen d'eau, aux fins de production d'hydrogène, lequel est ensuite fourni à une pile à combustible pour produire de l'énergie électrique ; il est notamment caractérisé en ce qu'une solution aqueuse d'éthanol provenant de la fermentation d'une biomasse est séparée par distillation ou tout autre technique, de manière à contenir approximativement 40 à 70 % en poids d'éthanol, préférablement 50 à 60 %, ce mélange, mélangé à une quantité adéquate d'air de manière que le rapport molaire entre l'oxygène et l'éthanol soit compris entre zéro et 0,5, est fourni à un réacteur dans lequel s'effectuent des réactions d'oxydation et de reformage partiels de l'éthanol, sur un catalyseur approprié ; ce procédé est encore caractérisé en ce que la réaction de conversion catalytique et, le cas échéant, la réaction de combustion de CO ou sa conversion en CH¿4?, s'effectuent dans le même réacteur, ou dans un réacteur différent, en ce que le mélange gazeux sortant des réacteurs et contenant de l'hydrogène mélangé à du dioxyde de carbone, de l'azote, du méthane ou d'autres gaz en petites quantités, est séparé jusqu'à l'obtention du degré de séparation voulu pour une quelconque application.
