Improved metallized films are produced by transferring a protective layer onto a metal layer from the side of the film remote from the metal layer. The transfer preferably takes place in the metallizer shortly after metallization and before the metal layer is exposed to the atmosphere which reduces the tendency of the metal to oxidize leading to a purer metal layer with enhanced barrier properties.

L'invention concerne des films métallisés améliorés produits par le transfert d'une couche de protection sur une couche métallique du côté éloigné du film, à partir de la couche métallique. Ce transfert se produit de préférence dans le dispositif de métallisation, peu après la métallisation, et avant que la couche métallique ne soit exposée à l'atmosphère, ce qui réduit la tendance du métal à s'oxyder; ce qui permet d'obtenir une couche métallique plus pure présentant des propriétés de barrière accrues.
