A B S T R A C T A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF LOW-ASPHALTENES HYDROCARBON MIXTURES Deasphalted oils and distillates are produced from asphaltenes-containing hydrocarbons by two-step solvent- deasphalting (yielding a high quality DAO-1, a DAO-2 of lower quality and asphalt) and subjecting the DAO-2 to thermal or catalytic cracking and/or the asphalt to thermal cracking and converting a distillation residue of the cracked product(s) by catalytic hydrotreatment into a product with a reduced RCT which is separated by distillation into distillate fraction(s) and a residue which is used as a feed component for solvent- deasphalting.
