Mo-1669-G PU-010 IMPROVED PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MULTI-NUCLEAR AROMATIC POLYAMINES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The instant invention is directed to an improved process for the production of multi-nuclear aromatic poly- amines comprising: (A) pre-condensing an aromatic amine with formaldehyde in the presence of an aqueous acid catalyst at a temperature of less than about 60°C, to obtain a precondensation mixture, (B) subjecting said precondensation mix- ture to a final condensation reaction at a temperature greater than about -60°C, thereby obtaining an acidic condensation mixture containing said aromatic polyamines and said acid catalyst, (C) returning a portion of said acidic condensation mixture to step (A), and (D) recovering said aromatic polyamine from the remaining portion of said acidic con- densation mixture.
