The invention relates to a process for the production of pellets from pulverized feedstock, such as lignocellulose material and/or other combustible material for firing in fireplaces, and wherein the feedstock is introduced into openings in a die and compressed into pellets therein. The invention is characterized in that the charging of the die with feedstock and the compaction of the feedstock into pellets is effected in the die section of a multi-platen press with rams plunging into the many openings of the die, and in that after compaction the die is raised up with the force plate and additionally run up against the force plate, by which means the finished pellet is ejected from the die and then pushed out from the die section into a container by means of an ejection device. The invention further describes an installation for carrying out the process, consisting of a charging device and a multi-platen press.
