ABSTRACT A process for the production of an adhesive based on a polychloro- prene by dissolving the polychloroprene in conventional adhesive solvents, said polychloroprene being obtained by the continuous polymerisation of chloro- prene and, optionally, up to 30 %, by weight, of a monomer copolymerisable with chloroprene in aqueous alkaline emulsion in the presence of emulsifiers and radical initiators at a temperature of from 0 to 30°C, followed by isolation, characterised in that from 90 to 150 parts, by weight, of water, from 2.5 to 4.1 parts, by weight. of a potassium salt of disproportionated abietic acid (based on acid), from 0.3 to 1.0 part, by weight, of a condensa- tion product of naphthalene sulphonic acid and formaldehyde and from 0.2 to 1.5 parts, by weight, of potassium hydroxide, all quantities being based on 100 parts, by weight, of monomer, are used during the polymerisation reaction.
