ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Polyether polyols are made by alkoxylating a mixture which is from 20-80 weight % sucrose and 80-20 weight % formitol. The product polyether polyols have an average hydroxyl functionality of at least 3 and a hydroxyl number of from 28 to 1000. These polyether polyols are particularly useful for the production of rigid polyurethane foams.
