(R)(+)-2-[4-(5-chloro-3-fluoropyridin-2-yloxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid propinyl ester is produced by converting a compound of formula II Image in an inert organic solvent, without isolation of the intermediate products, with M2CO3, in which M is sodium or potassium, into the compound of formula III Image reacting this with the compound of formula IV Image to form the compound of formula V Image and converting this with a compound of formula VI Image wherein Z signifies phenylsulphonyl, tosyl, methylsulphonyl, nosyl, bromophenyl, Cl-, Br- or CICO- , into the compound of formula I.
