The invention relates to a process for the production of sulfoalkyl-containing polymers useful as ion-exchange resins, more particularly a process for the production of sulfoalkyl-containing polymers, characterized by subjecting a polymer having side chains represented by the structural formula (I): (I) [wherein X is a leaving group, and n is an integer of 0 to 6] to replacement of X by acylthio, and then oxidizing the acylthio groups into sulfonic acid groups. According to the process, even the leaving groups (X) contained in the polymer matrix can be nearly quantitatively replaced by sulfonic acid groups, whereby an ion-exchange resin having high ion-exchange capacity can be obtained.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire des polymères contenant sulfoalkyle qui servent de résines échangeuses d'ions, plus précisément un procédé permettant de produire des polymères contenant sulfoalkyle qui consiste à soumettre un polymère ayant des chaînes latérales représentées par la formule développée (I), [dans laquelle X représente un groupe partant, et n un entier de 0 à 6] au remplacement de X par acylthio, puis à oxyder les groupes acylthio en groupes d'acide sulfonique. Selon le procédé, même les groupes partants (X) contenus dans la matrice polymère peuvent être quasi quantitativement remplacés par des groupes d'acide sulfonique, ce qui permet d'obtenir une résine échangeuse d'ions dont la capacité d'échange d'ions est élevée.
