A gas mixture comprised of nitric oxide and, optionally an inert gas, and containing small amounts of nitrogen dioxide, and perhaps moisture and sulfur dioxide, is purified by passing the gas stream through a bed of metal cation-free alumina-deficient zeolites of types Y or ZSM-5. The concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and moisture in the gas stream are reduced to about 1 ppm or less as the gas mixture passes through the bed of zeolite.
Un mélange gazeux, constitué d'oxyde nitrique et, facultativement, d'un gaz inerte, et renfermant de petites quantités de dioxyde d'azote avec, peut-être, de l'humidité et du dioxyde de soufre, est purifié par passage dans un lit de zéolites de types Y ou ZSM-5, déficitaires en alumine et exemptes de cation métallique. Les concentrations de dioxyde d'azote, de dioxyde de soufre et d'humidité dans le flux gazeux sont réduites à environ 1 ppm ou moins à mesure que les mélanges gazeux passent à travers le lit de zéolite.
