The invention relates to a process for the purification of thiophenes which are liquid at room temperature, of the general formula (I) (see formula I) wherein the thiophene of the general formula (I) which is liquid at room temperature is precipitated as a solid from at least one solvent at a temperature below the melting temperature of the thiophene, thiophenes purified by this process and the use thereof.
