-5- Abstract A process is suggested for the regeneration treatment, in batch quantities, of predominantly clay- bonded casting old sand for its re-use. The dust-like particles detaching themselves from the sand grains as a consequence of the rubbing action are pneumatically drawn off during the treatment. In this way there results a reduction of the weight of the batch which is compensated for in terms of weight or in terms of volume by the addition of a certain quantity of sand. By means of this process it should be achieved that the rubbing action and thus the detachment of the shells of the sand grains remains constant during the entire batch treatment.
