A process for depolymerizing nylon (6) and recovering caprolactam from the depolymerized products by extraction with alkyl phenolic compounds. Process steps include (a) treating a first mixture comprising nylon (6) with water at a temperature between about 200 ~C and about 400 ~C to yield a second mixture comprising depolymerized nylon (6) components, wherein the second mixture contains caprolactam at a concentration between about 5 wt.% and about 35 wt.%; (b) optionally, separating insoluble material from the second mixture; (c) extracting the second mixture with an extraction agent to yield an aqueous raffinate third mixture and an organic phase fourth mixture comprising caprolactam and the extraction agent, wherein the extraction agent is an alkyl phenol having a boiling point higher than that of the caprolactam; (d) recovering caprolactam from the organic phase fourth mixture by distillation; (e) recycling the aqueous raffinate third mixture to step (a).
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de dépolymérisation du nylon 6 et de récupération du caprolactame dans les produits dépolymérisés, par extraction aux composés alkylphénoliques. Les étapes du procédé consistent à: (a) traiter un premier mélange à base de nylon 6 et d'eau à une température comprise entre environ 200 et environ 400 ·C en vue d'obtenir un deuxième mélange à base de constituants de nylon 6 dépolymérisés, lequel contient du caprolactame à une concentration oscillant entre environ 5 et environ 35 %, en poids; (b) séparer, éventuellement, les matières insolubles du deuxième mélange; (c) extraire le deuxième mélange avec un agent d'extraction afin d'obtenir un troisième mélange aqueux de produits raffinés et un quatrième mélange en phase organique contenant le caprolactame et l'agent d'extraction, ledit agent étant un alkylphénol dont le point d'ébullition est supérieur à celui du caprolactame; (d) récupérer le caprolactame du quatrième mélange en phase organique par distillation; (e) recycler le troisième mélange de produits raffinés aqueux par retour à l'étape (a).
