ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the recovery of indium and tin which comprises subject- ing a solution containing indium and tin to solvent extraction with an organic extractant containing at least one alkyl phosphoric acid capable of extracting both indium and tin to provide an indium rich organic extractant and a tin rich raffinate, is described, which is improved by adding to the aqueous solution sufficient fluoride ion to inhibit emulsion formation between the phases and to complex at least a portion of the tin in the aqueous solution in order to inhibit the extraction of tin from the aqueous solution into the organic extractant, and recovering an indium-containing solution substantially free of tin.
