The invention provides a process for the recovery of lactic acid and products thereof from an aqueous solution containing free lactic acid and at least one lactate salt at a total concentration of at least 5 %, the process comprising the steps of: extracting at least 70 % of the free lactic acid from the aqueous solution by contacting the solution with a basic extractant, to form a lactic acid-containing extract and a lactic acid-depleted, lactate salt-containing aqueous solution; separating the lactic acid-containing extract from the depleted aqueous solution; and stripping the extracted lactic acid from the extract by methods known per se, to form a solution of lactic acid and a stripped extractant.
L'invention a trait à un procédé de récupération d'acide lactique et de produits de celui-ci à partir d'une solution aqueuse contenant de l'acide lactique libre et au moins un lactate sous une concentration totale d'au moins 5 %. Le procédé consiste à extraire 70 % au moins d'acide lactique de la solution aqueuse en la mettant en contact avec un agent d'extraction basique afin de former un extrait contenant de l'acide lactique et une solution aqueuse pauvre en acide lactique contenant un lactate, à séparer l'extrait contenant de l'acide lactique de la solution aqueuse appauvrie et enfin, à enlever l'acide lactique extrait au moyen de techniques connues afin de former une solution comprenant l'acide lactique et l'agent d'extraction retiré.
