To recover rhodium from distillation residues of crude products from the oxo synthesis, the residues are treated in the presence of an alkali metal salt of a C2- to C5- monocarboxylic acid with oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas. The rhodium is subsequently extracted in the form of a water-soluble compound with water.
