A process for recovering volatile, generally bad smelling low molecular, low polar substances called VLC, contained in a gaseous environment, typically gas streams, by capturing same in contacting said gaseous environment with a calixarene or a resorcinol calixarene present in the form of particles, granules as a coating or impregnation on or in a solid support, or as an organic solution. Further, a capturing agent for these VLCs is disclosed, compri sing at least one of the cyclic phenolic oligomers mentioned above and corresponding to formulae (I), (II), or (III) defined in the specification and claims.

Ce procédé de récupération de substances volatiles possédant généralement une faible masse, une faible polarité et une mauvaise odeur, appelées composés légers volatils (VLC) et contenues dans un environnement gazeux, généralement des courants gazeux, consiste à piéger ces substances par mise en contact dudit environnement gazeux avec un calixarène ou un calixarène de résorcinol, présent sous forme de particules ou de granules, en tant que matériau de revêtement ou d'imprégnation d'un support ou en tant que matériau contenu dans celui-ci, ou sous forme d'une solution organique. En outre, on décrit un agent de piégeage de ces composés VLC, comprenant au moins un des oligomères phénoliques cycliques ci-dessus mentionnés et répondant aux formules (I), (II) et (III) développées dans la description et dans les revendications.
