ABSTRACT A process is disclosed for a regenerator operated with carbon dioxide and oxygen-containing regenerator feed gas wherein the flue gas emanating from the over- head of the regenerator as effluent is processed to reduce NOx contaminant and is oxidized to convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. A portion of the resultant compressed stream is recycled as a diluent CO2 gas to be mixed with oxygen regenerator feed gas. Another portion of the stream is compressed, dried and distilled to remove SOx and a pure CO2 product for export. Residual CO2 and O2 from the distillation is recycled to the regenerator optionally.
