Described is a process for the region-wise transfer of a decorative layer of a transfer foil, which includes an activatable adhesive layer from a carrier film onto a substrate, wherein the adhesive layer of the transfer foil is partially activated before the actual stamping operation, more specifically in such a way that the adhesive layer experiences activation only in the surface regions in which the decorative layer is to be transferred onto the substrate. A transfer foil which is particularly suitable for that process has an absorption layer in the surface regions of the decorative layer, which are to be transferred onto the substrate, which absorption layer absorbs the radiation energy causing activation of the adhesive layer and activates the adhesive layer under the action of the absorbed radiation energy.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'appliquer par zones la couche décorative (3), comportant une couche d'adhésif (7) activable, d'un film de transfert, à partir d'un film support (1), sur un substrat (11). La couche d'adhésif du film de transfert est activée partiellement avant le processus d'impression proprement dit, et cela de telle sorte que la couche d'adhésif ne subit une activation que dans les zones superficielles dans lesquelles la couche décorative doit être transférée sur le substrat. Un film de transfert particulièrement adéquat pour ce procédé présente, dans les zones superficielles de la couche décorative qui doivent être transférées sur le substrat, une couche d'absorption (6) qui absorbe une énergie rayonnante déclenchant une activation de la couche d'adhésif et qui, sous l'effet de l'énergie rayonnante absorbée, active la couche d'adhésif.
