ABSTRACT A process is described whereby residue removed from furnace waste gas washers is utilized underground to secure mine galleries. The residue originating from limestone or lime washers is processed into alpha-sulphate hemihydrate which is then mixed with additives being mineral waste products. The alpha-sulphate hemihydrate/mineral waste product is used underground to secure mine galleries upon the addition of water.
