A B S T R A C T A process for the removal of acid gases (e.g., H2S, CO2, COS) from a gas mixture by contacting the gas mixture at elevated pressure with an aqueous solution of a dialkyl-mono-alkanolamine (in particular diethyl-mono-ethanolamine), which aqueous solution does not contain a sterically hindered amine. A physical solvent (e.g., sulfolane) may be present in the aqueous solution.
