Process for the removal of higher hydrocarbons contained in natural gas further containing sulphur compounds by simul-taneous conversion of the hydrocarbons to aromatic com-pounds and methane in presence of a catalyst comprising a crystalline alumino silicate having in its anhydrous state a formula expressed in terms of mole ratios as follows: xQ: 0.01 - 0.1 M2/n O:0-0.08 Z2O3:SiO2:0.0001 - 0.5 Me, wherein: Q is an organic nitrogen compound; Z is aluminum, boron, gallium or mixtures thereof; x is between 0 and 0.5; M is at least one metal cation of valence n or proton; and Me is at least one of the metals, which form a water in-soluble sulphide by contact with a sulphur compound being present in the natural gas and/or in a preparation mixture for preparation of the catalyst.

Procédé permettant de retirer les hydrocarbures de poids moléculaire élevé qui sont contenus dans le gaz naturel renfermant en outre des composés du soufre, cela par conversion simultanée des hydrocarbures en composés aromatiques et en méthane en présence d'un catalyseur comprenant un aluminosilicate cristallin qui, sous forme anhydre, a la composition suivante, en termes de ratios molaires : xQ: 0,01 - 0,1 M2/n O:0 - 0,08 Z2O3:SiO2:0,0001 - 0,5 Me, où Q est un composé organique de l'azote; Z est de l'aluminium, du bore, du gallium ou un mélange de ces éléments; x se situe entre 0 et 0,5; M est au moins un cation métallique de valence n ou un proton; Me est au moins un des métaux qui forment un sulfure hydrosoluble en présence d'un composé du soufre présent dans le gaz naturel et/ou dans un mélange destiné à la préparation du catalyseur.
