The invention relates to a process for the separation of carbon dioxide gas from a mixture comprising components resulting from the reaction of ethylene and oxygen under the influence of a silver catalyst wherein the separation is carried out by absorption of the carbon dioxide gas into a wall of a membrane, solubilization in the membrane matrix, diffusion through the membrane and desorption from the other wall.
