A B S T R A C T A PROCESS FOR THE SEPARATION OF PARA-XYLENE The adsorption selectivity of a crystalline silicate of para-xylene over ethyl benzene is increased by pre-treating the crystalline silicate, or the H-form of the crystalline silicate with a solution of a salt of a polyvalent metal. The conditions should be such that the charge density and concentration of the metal cation meet a given relationship.
