The invention relates to an apparatus for drying a gas by gradually releasing and condensing the moisture in various chambers of a column, different pressures and different temperatures thus being present in the chambers of the column. The gas to be dried is first fed into the bottom chamber, where the largest amount of the water contained in the gas is condensed, and the gas is then discharged from the bottom chamber via a nozzle. Subsequently the gas is cooled and fed into at least one more chamber located above the first chamber, where further moisture is condensed before the resulting condensate is fed via a pipe - preferably shaped like a siphon - into the bottom reservoir to prevent the gas from flowing from the chamber below into the chamber above. The invention also relates to a process which enables a gas to be dried.
L'invention porte sur un équipement destiné au séchage d'un gaz, le séchage du gaz étant réalisé par détente pas à pas et condensation de l'humidité dans différentes chambres (2, 3 ,4) d'une colonne (1) de telle sorte que règnent dans les chambres de la colonne des pressions différentes et des températures différentes, le gaz devant être séché étant d'abord envoyé dans la chambre la plus inférieure (2) (5, 5a), où la plus grande quantité de l'eau contenue dans le gaz est condensée, puis le gaz est évacué (7) de la chambre la plus inférieure par une tubulure (7a), ce après quoi il est refroidi et envoyé dans au moins une autre chambre (3, 4), disposée par-dessus, dans laquelle on condense une humidité supplémentaire, et le condensat obtenu est, par un tube (9, 12), qui de préférence est configuré comme un siphon, envoyé dans le réservoir inférieur (2a), de façon qu'il ne puisse se produire d'écoulement de gaz allant de la chambre située au-dessous à la chambre située au-dessus. L'invention porte aussi sur un procédé à l'aide duquel on peut mettre en oevre le séchage d'un gaz.
