ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a process for recovering uranium from a solution in which it is contained in the form of solubilized salts or complexes (or both) of uranium and of an alkaline metal, particularly from the extraction alkaline leach liquor of uranium ores. This process comprises contacting the solution with a cationic ion exchange resin in the ammonium form and collecting, after the ion exchange has taken place, the solution containing the uranium in the form of salts or complexes (or both) of uranium and ammonium. The uranium can then be recovered under different conventional forms from the solution so obtained.
