L'invention concerne un procédé de séparation sélective de l'yttrium à partir de solution contenant de l'yttrium et des lanthanides. Ce procédé consiste à mettre en contact une solution aqueuse avec une phase organique dans une batterie de mélangeurs décanteurs pour extraire les lanthanides dans la phase organique, la solution aqueuse sortante étant enrichie en yttrium. La phase organique comprend un mélange d'agent extractant cationique avec une hydroxyquinoléine substituée.
