A B S T R A C T There is disclosed a solid-liquid separation process particularly useful for separation of suspended material from a suspension having a solid concentration of not more than 10g/l. The process comprises adding to the suspension an inorganic metal salt flocculating agent in an amount sufficient to cause flocculation of solid suspended material and adding thereto 0.5 ppm or more of an organic high molecular weight flocculating agent before the inorganic metal salt flocculating agent substantially completes the reaction of changing from the metallic ion to the corresponding metallic hydroxide, so that the resulting mixture has a particle concentration of at least 10 g/l. In a treating tank, the mixture is agitated to impart an upward and rolling flow thereby to effect a granulation of a mass of the particles and the granulated particles are then separated from the mother liquid.
