ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A process for the treatment of boron-containing steel for use in continuous casting and particularly for forming products of small size with the aid of an uncontrolled pouring nozzle. Calcium or a compound thereof, at least one element forming stable nitrides at the temperature of the molten steel, and boron or a boron compound are introduced, in powder form and by means of an inert carrier gas, into the molten steel contained in the casting ladle. The steel treated in this way is protected against further reaction with air during its passage from the ladle to the mould.
