L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement des eaux phosphatées, caractérisé en ce que: (a) on introduit une eau phosphatée dans un réacteur muni d'une cathode et d'une anode comprenant une source d'ions Ca2+; et (b) on fait passer un courant électrique à travers l'eau de façon à causer une diffusion des ions Ca2+ dans l'eau et ainsi former un précipité. Le pH de l'eau à l'étape (b) a une valeur d'environ 5.0 à environ 11.5. L'invention concerne également une anode comprenant un mélange incluant une source d'ions Ca2+, un support et de l'eau. Cette anode est utile pour le traitement des eaux phosphatées et pour la déphosphatation des eaux usées.
