Organic pollutants in wastewaters are wet-oxidized by addition of pure oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas at temperatures of 80 to 330°C, under pressures of 1 bar to 200 bar and at a pH value below 7. For the wet oxidation process, iron ions and digested sludge or surplus sludge from a biological sewage treatment plant are added to the wastewater.

L'oxydation par voie humide de matières polluantes organiques dans des eaux usées s'effectue par addition d'oxygène pur ou d'un gaz contenant de l'oxygène, à des températures de 80 à 330 ~C, sous des pressions de 1 à 200 bar et à un pH < 7. Pour l'oxydation par voie humide, des ions fer et des boues de la tour de digestion ou des boues en excès provenant d'une installation de décantation biologique sont ajoutés aux eaux usées.
