PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: La présente invention concerne un procédé pour diminuer la formation de coke pendant les traitements thermiques des charges hydrocarbonées à teneur élevée en asphaltène, ledit procédé étant du type consistant à soumettre lesdites charges additionnées d'une faible quantité d'au moins un composé métallique, à des températures de 350 à 500° C et des pressions de 1 à 100 bars, caractérisé en ce que le composé métallique est un sel d'un métal choisi dans le groupe constitué par V, Mo, Cr, W, Fe, Co et Ni, en concentration comprise entre 100 et 2500 ppm.
