ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a process for concentrating a sludge from the municipal or industrial sector which comprises feeding the sludge into a concentrator having disposed therein one or several filters; each filter having porous walls such that said sludge surrounds said filter and clean water filters from the outside through said walls into a filter space, the cleaned water being drawn off from the filter space and thickened sludge being drawn off from the bottom of the concentrator.
