Abstract of the Disclosure A continuous process for reducing deleterious substances in cyanide-containing effluents, which also contain other oxidi- zable deleterious substances, by rapid and continuous determina- tion of the requirement of hydrogen peroxide, by potentiometric determination of the requirement of oxidizing agent in a branched- off parallel stream by using a measuring oxidizing agent, as for example, a peroxy monosulphate, or a peroxy disulphate, which is faster acting than hydrogen peroxide under comparable conditions.
