PROCESS FOR TREATING DRILLING MUD Abstract A process for treating drilling mud according to the invention comprises adding a stabilizing agent to the drilling mud, the agent comprising an aqueous so- lution of carboxymethyl cellulose or condensed sulphi- te liquor preactivated in the zone of one of the elec- trodes of a diaphragm electrolyzer, said stabilizing agent being added to the drilling mud during the time which is equal to or shorter than the time of the slow stage of electrochemical relaxation of the solution.
