Title of the Invention A process for treating manganese nodules Abstract of the Description In a process for treating manganese nodules wherein the nodules are reduced so as to convert most of Ni, Cu and Co into the metals and to inhibit the conversion of iron and manganese into the metals, the resulting reduced ore is wet ground, if necessary, slurried and treated with an aqueous ammoniacal solution containing free oxygen to extract the metallic nickel 9 copper and cobalt as their ammine complexes and the iron and manganese are removed from the aqueous ammoniacal solution containing iron and manganese as impurities by blowing air therein, a process comprising leaching the slurry of reduced ore by adding NaCl or NH4Cl and blowing air in the leach solution added with a SO2 source. - 1 -
