ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention described herein is a process for treat- ing sulphated lead compounds, more particularly those coming from exhausted storage batteries, in order to recover metallic lead and a high-purity sulphate, said process comprising subjecting said sulphated compounds to leaching with sodium carbonate in aqueous solution, collecting on a filter the lead carbonate thus obtained from the sodium sulphate which remains dissolved, sub- jecting the lead carbonate to reduction to metallic lead, separa- ting the sodium sulphate by crystallization from the filtrates and recycling the mother liquors of crystallization to the leach- ing stage.
