ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cutting tool has a cutting edge for cutting into a surface of material to be mined so that fissures develop in the region of the bottom of the cut. The cutting tool is provided with apertures adjacent said cut- ting edge. High pressure fluid medium jets are directed through the aper- tures in the cutting tool adjacent the cutting edge thereof and against the bottom of the cut so that such jets can enter into the fissures.
