This disclosure relates to a process for manufacturing a mono-alkylaromatic compound, said process comprising contacting a feedstock comprising an alkylatable aromatic compound and an alkylating agent under alkylation reaction conditions with a catalyst comprising EMM- 12, wherein said EMM- 12 is a molecular sieve having, in its as- synthesized form and in calcined form, an X-ray diffraction pattern including peaks having a d-spacing maximum in the range of 14.17 to 12.57 Angstroms, a d-spacing maximum in the range of 12.1 to 12.56 Angstroms, and non-discrete scattering between about 8.85 to 11.05 Angstroms or exhibit a valley in between the peaks having a d-spacing maximum in the range of 10.14 to 12.0 Angstroms and a d-spacing maximum in the range from 8.66 to 10.13 Angstroms with measured intensity corrected for background at the lowest point being not less than 50 % of the point at the same XRD d-spacing on the line connecting maxima in the range of 10.14 to 12.0 Angstroms and in the range from 8.66 to 10.13 Angstroms.

Cette invention porte sur un procédé de fabrication d'un composé monoalkyl aromatique. Ce procédé comprend la mise en contact d'une charge d'alimentation comprenant un composé aromatique alkylable et un agent d'alkylation dans des conditions de réaction d'alkylation avec un catalyseur comprenant EMM-12. Ledit EMM-12 est un tamis moléculaire ayant, dans sa forme telle que synthétisée et dans sa forme calcinée, un motif de diffraction des rayons X comprenant des pics ayant un espacement d maximum se situant dans la plage de 14,17 à 12,57 Ångstroms, un espacement d maximum se situant dans la plage de 12,1 à 12,56 Ångstroms, et une diffusion non discrète entre environ 8,85 et 11,05 Ångstroms ou présentent une vallée entre les pics ayant un espacement d maximum dans la plage de 10,14 à 12,0 Ångstroms et un espacement d maximum dans la plage de 8,66 à 10,13 Ångstroms avec une intensité mesurée corrigée pour le fond au point le plus bas qui n'est pas inférieure à 50 % du point au même espacement d en XRD sur la ligne reliant les maxima dans la plage de 10,14 à 12,0 Ångstroms et dans la plage de 8,66 à 10,13 Ångstroms.
