90-7 PROCESS OF MAKING BLOCKS OF BAGS ABSTRACT A process of making bags having blocked stubs, which are joined by perforation lines substantially only to the lower ply while a substantially continuous slit separates the upper ply. A tubular web of synthetic thermoplastic material is formed in longitudinal sections with a transverse perforation line extending through only the upper ply. The web is cut a second time through both plies with offset perforations severing the lands between the first perforation line in the upper ply thus forming a continuous slit extending substantially the width of the upper ply, while leaving the lower ply attached to the stub by a transverse perforation line. Bags having side gussets can also be made using this process. The process can be employed as a single bag process, or, by previously dividing the tube longitudinally with hot-wire welders into multiple tubes, as a multi-bag process.
