A continuous process for preparing polybenzazole staple fibers which comprises supplying polybenzazole polymer through an extruder (1) to a spinning head (2) for spinning, passing the filaments through a quench chamber (3), around rollers (4) and through a cutting device (5) which cuts the filaments into staple fibers.

Procédé en continu de fabrication de fibrilles courtes de polybenzazole consistant à faire passer un polymère de polybenzazole dans une extrudeuse (1) puis par une filière (2), puis à faire passer les filaments ainsi constitués dans une chambre de refroidissement (3), puis autour de rouleaux (5), puis dans une découpeuse qui les découpe en fibrilles.
