This process of mercapto-3 propionic acid synthesis by addition reaction of H2S to acrylic acid is carried out in the presence of a solid support possessing guanidine basic functional groups, provided that these are devoid of hydrogen directly related to a nitrogen atom. This process permits excellent mercapto-3 propionic acid selectivity while maintaining a very high conversion rate.

Ce procédé de synthèse de l'acide mercapto-3 propionique par réaction d'addition de H2S à l'acide acrylique est effectué en présence d'un support solide possédant des groupes fonctionnels basiques guanidine, à la condition que ceux-ci soient dépourvus d'hydrogène directement lié à un atome d'azote. Ce procédé permet une excellente selectivité en acide mercapto-3 propionique tout en gardant un taux de conversion très élevé.
