Abstract A process is disclosed for the preparation of homo- and co-polymers of vinyl chloride by polymerisation in seeded microsuspension, which comprises effecting polymerisation in the presence of one or more seeding substances in the form of dispersions of particles of polymers. The particles of at least one of the seeding products contain the initiator required for polymerisation and said initiator is activated by an organo-soluble metal complex and nitric acid. The polymers obtained can be used for the production of sheets, films, threads, hollow bodies, cellular materials, moulded articles and coated cover- ings.
